What is Hyperpigmentation?

What is hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a common skin condition among women, where patches of the skin become darker than the surrounding skin. There are several causes for hyperpigmentation:

  • Hormonal change. Women may experience what is often called the “mask of pregnancy,” melasma or chloasma. Pregnancy, as well as the use of birth control pills can also affect the body’s hormones and cause hyperpigmantation.
  • Acne can also lead to pigment changes in areas where breakouts commonly occur.
  • Skin injuries or scars can result in darker areas as well.

How can you treat hyperpigmentation? Many women choose over-the-counter and prescription bleaching creams containing a powerful bleach chemical that slows the production of melanin and cause dark spots to fade.

But replacing one harsh chemical with another can cause long term damage to the skin. The secret is natural skin whitening ingredients. Makari's Caviar cream for example, is the most effective, yet mildest lightning cream, designed to nourish the skin instead of damaging the skin.
